Adapt: GaIa’s garden – Identity, experiential and environmental design, community engagement, curation. Josie Tucker – Founder and Creative Director of Adapt projects, a creative agency focusing on creative climate solutions. A purpose built garden and community space, developed on an existing brownfield site in Holborn, London in collaboration with Dominvs developers, Play Nice agency and Urban Growth to develop an integrated identity that promoted ideas around community and sustainability across the space. Gaia’s Garden consisted of a programme of performances, community events and workshops centered around urban greenery and skill sharing. The build, lead by Urban Growth was supported by volunteers from Adapt’s community. The identity was based on heat maps, focusing on how heat is generated and stored through the architecture of the city. There are certain species of plant and wildlife that thrive in urban areas due to the heat generated by human activity. Alongside the identity, we curated a permanent photography exhibition on the hoardings of the space focusing on community and nature in London.
