Protest Gear was a collaborative platform exploring the concept of protest garments for use in and out of activism. Concepted in response to UK police policy change, (making it easier for police to arrest people seen to be protesting), it allows garments to serve as protest signs whose messages can be concealed if at risk of arrest. Protest Gear – Scarves Exploring how the identities created and messages communicated by football fans can be transferred into forms of protest. A series of scarf collaborations with different artists were created alongside 2 sustainable scarves to fundraise. Protest Gear – Poncho. In response to the new policing bill threatening the public's right to protest, we created a poncho that can be used in and out of protest, revealing and hiding climate messages. The ripstop fabric used was from the Raeburn Lab.
